Danielle Collins played collegiate tennis at the University of Virginia. There, she won the NCAA singles title twice, in 2014 and 2016.
Her breakthrough came at the 2019 Australian Open when she reached the semifinals, upsettingworld No. 2, Angelique Kerber, along the way.
She graduated from Virginia as the top-ranked collegiate player in 2016. She initially established herself on the WTA Tour when she reached the semifinals of the 2018 Miami Open as a qualifier. Collins was also a quarterfinalist in singles at the 2020 French Open and semifinals in doubles at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships.
Collins boasts a powerful serve and solid groundstrokes on both wings, making her one of the WTA Tour’s toughest hitters.
