Saliba signed for Arsenal in 2019 but was immediately loaned back to Saint-Etienne for a year.

During that time, Unai Emery was sacked as manager and replaced by Arteta and Saliba has explained that “when I saw that the coach changed a lot changed for me too.”

Saliba did not get the chance to make his competitive debut for the Gunners this season, instead featuring for the Under-23s and in pre-season friendlies.

As a result of his lack of game time, the 19-year-old joined Nice on loan in January and he was recently named the club’s player of the month after a string of impressive performances

Now, in an interview on RMC’s ‘Top of the Foot’ show, Saliba has explained: “It is clear that so much has changed in the last year.

“When I saw that the coach changed a lot changed for me too. In this year there has been a lot of change. He judged me on two-and-a-half matches. I would have liked for him to play me more. But he told me I wasn’t ready.
