At the end of the 49ers’ first-game drive, Garoppolo was sacked for a 10-yard loss. Jerome Baker and Jaelan Phillips, both of the Dolphins’ defensive lines, hit Garoppolo together. He got up slowly and went to the blue medical tent to be checked out more.
When the 49ers’ offence got back on the field, Brock Purdy, a rookie, took over as quarterback. On Sunday, the 49ers didn’t have a third quarterback.
On the first drive, Purdy did a great job filling in. He led the 49ers down the field and threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to fullback Kyle Juszczyk to put the 49ers ahead
WHO IS JIMMY GAROPPOLO?
James Richard Garoppolo was born on November 2, 1991. He is a quarterback for the san fenisco of the National Football League. His nickname is “Jimmy G.” (NFL). He went to college in Eastern Illinois and played football there. As a senior, he won the Walter Payton Award and set school records for passing yards and touchdowns. The New England Patriots picked Garoppolo in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He spent his first four years as Tom Brady’s backup.
