Former UFC star Nate Diaz turned himself in to the New Orleans Police Department and was booked into custody on a charge of felony second-degree battery on Thursday, according to police spokesperson Karen Boudrie told ESPN.
Diaz posted bond and was released from police custody less than four hours after he was booked into jail, Zach Rosenfield, a rep for the fighter.
The incident which was captured on video and shared to social media — took place after Diaz attended a boxing card at the XULA Convention Center to support teammate Chris Avila, who defeated Paul Bamba.
Nate Diaz had himself quite a night at Misfits Boxing 6.After starting a scuffle with reality TV star Chase De Moor by throwing a water bottle at him during the event, Diaz ended someone else’s night quickly and coldly on the street after the event in New Orleans.
In the video below, the man walks up to Diaz who locks in a chokehold, hits him with a knee, and drops him on the ground after putting him to sleep.
Diaz was in town because his teammate Chris Avila was competing at the event. Avila easily won an unanimous decision victory over Paul Bamba.
