JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WPEC) — The State Attorney for the Fourth Judicial Court in northeast Florida explained why a police officer in Jacksonville had to shoot and kill a woman who had stabbed him.

he shooting happened on April 11 outside a house in the northwest part of the city. The body camera video shows what happened. Local news says that when the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office called about a fight between roommates, they sent officers to the scene.

In the video, when a female officer comes to the door, Leah Baker runs out with a big knife and stabs the officer in the arm.

The woman then runs toward the second officer, who fires several shots, knocking the woman to the ground.

In the video, the woman lies on the ground for a while but tries to get up. More officers with guns drawn showed up. Then, an officer uses a taser on the woman after a K-9 dog grabs her leg.
