Lukas Van Ness’ dad was giddy with excitement after the Green Bay Packers drafted his son 13th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft on Thursday.
Maybe a little too much so.
The video that went viral was so chaotic that some questioned which woman, in fact, was Van Ness’ girlfriend.
Kmet documented the scene in a photo on her Instagram Story, where she sported a Packers cap and wrote: “GO PACK GO.”
Kmet comes from a football family as well — her brother, Cole Kmet, is a tight end for the Bears, the Packers’ NFC North rival.
Van Ness tallied 19.5 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks and two blocked punts over three seasons at Iowa, where he earned the nickname “Hercules.”
The 21-year-old was a second-team All-Big Ten selection in 2022, and in 2021, he was named a freshman All-American.
The Packers had moved up to No. 13 after trading Aaron Rodgers to the Jets, as the pair of teams exchanged first round picks this year — with Gang Green moving to No. 15, and Green Bay sliding up two slots — as part of the deal.
With their selection two picks later, the Jets also chose a defensive player, but opted for edge rusher Will McDonald IV from Iowa State.
